Mount Marty Men’s Basketball nearly upset the #3 ranked Northwestern Red Raiders on Saturday in Orange City, Iowa, eventually falling 73-64.
Tash Lunday led the Lancers with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Damon Opdahl added 11 points off the bench.
The Lancers are back in action on Wednesday hosting Doane in a men’s and women’s doubleheader.
Mount Marty Women’s Basketball lost to GPAC foes Northwestern on Saturday, 79-67 in Orange City.
Kaela Martinez posted game-highs in scoring with 27 points and assists with 6 assists. Sidney Thue (Thoo-ee), 13, and Emma Jarovski, 11, also scored in double figures.

Yankton Bucks Basketball fell to the Sioux Falls Roosevelt Rough Riders on Friday in a Class AA matchup, 49-40.
Cohen Zahrbock led Yankton with 11 points in the loss. He was followed by Carson Ness and Beck Ryken who each added 9 points.
Yankton is off until Thursday night, taking on the Huron Tigers in Huron.
Yankton Gazelles Basketball were defeated by Sioux Falls Roosevelt last Friday, 63-46 in Sioux Falls.
Eden Wolfgram went 11-for-11 from the free throw line en route to a game-high 20 points in the loss. September Rauch added 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Yankton is off until Friday night when they take on Brandon Valley in Brandon.
Mount Marty Track and Field standout Logan Ferrari broke his own school record in the 3,000 over the weekend, and the Lancers claimed a pair of event titles at the Concordia Classic indoor track and field meet.
Ferrari won the 3,000 with a time of 8 minutes, 38.33 seconds. Mya Zohner earned the 2nd event win for the Lancers, clearing 11-7 3/4ths in the women’s pole vault.
Next up for the Lancers is the SDSU D2/NAIA Open, January 31st through February 1st.
Yankton Bucks Hockey picked up their 10th win of the season on Friday, defeating the Brookings Rangers in Brookings, 5-3.
Tucker Renken led the Bucks with a goal and two assists, Kylen O’Connor, Rylan Murphy, Jack Pedersen, and Kaden Hunhoff also scored for Yankton. Luke Moeller made 30 saves in net.
Yankton heads west in two weeks for back-to-back games against the Rushmore Thunder on February 8th and 9th in Rapid City.
Yankton Gazelles Gymnastics is home tonight, hosting the O’Gorman Knights for a dual.
The dual will be held at River City Gymnastics & Cheer in Yankton, with events set to begin at 5:30 PM.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Wrestling return to the mats tomorrow night, hosting a triangular inside the Summit Activities Center.
Yankton will face Huron and Tea during the event. Matches are scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM.
South Dakota State Men’s Basketball defeated their in-state rivals South Dakota on Saturday, 90-71 in Brookings.
Kalen Garry finished the game with 19 points for the Jackrabbits. Oscar Cluff posted an 11-points, 14-rebound double-double, while Yankton alum Matthew Mors ended the night with 10 points and 4 boards.
For the Coyotes, five different players scored in double figures. Isaac Bruns, Chase Forte, and Mayuom Buom each had 11, while Shey Eberwein and Dre Bullock had 10.
The Jackrabbits are on the road on Thursday for their next game against North Dakota State, while the Coyotes are set to host Omaha on Wednesday.
South Dakota Coyotes Women’s Basketball fell to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Saturday, 77-59 in Vermillion.
Grace Larkins flirted with a triple-double in the loss, recording a game-high 27 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. Carley Duffney added 17 points for USD.
The Jackrabbits had a quartet of players eclipse 10 points in the win. Haleigh Timmer and Brooklyn Meyer each had 15, Mesa Byom added 13, while Katie Vasecka had 12.
The Coyotes are back on the road on Thursday to face the Kansas City Roos. SDSU remains unbeaten in conference play with the win as they turn their attention to North Dakota State on Wednesday.
