First District 18 Cracker Barrel of the 2025 Legislative Session

The first District 18 Cracker Barrel of the 2025 South Dakota Legislative Session was held Saturday.

State Senator Lauren Nelson and Representatives Mike Stevens and Julie Auch answered questions from the public on various issues.

One of which was the Education Savings Account proposed by Governor Kristi Noem, which Representative Stevens says that he is opposed to because if approved, it would result in cuts in other programs such as the state library and South Dakota Public Broadcasting.

Stevens also offered his thoughts on the possibility of Lieutenant Governor Larry Rhoden becoming the state’s Governor.

The next District 18 Cracker Barrel will be held on February 22nd.
