Yankton County is weighing the possibility of building a juvenile detention center in the county.
Yankton County Commission Chair John Marquardt says that the county has been sending juveniles to Minnehaha County, but they charge over $458 a day per juvenile.
Marquardt says that there is a real possibility that Minnehaha County could be raising that rate soon.
Marquardt says that they already have the jail in place, but there is some city involvement in the matter.
Marquardt says that the county has also been asking for input from the Yankton School District.
Marquardt says that the goal is to have a feasibility study done by the end of the year.
