The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation has completed its investigation into the Yankton Police Department’s request from a citizen complaint stating that two officers used excessive force in an arrest in early April.
DCI Chief of Staff Tim Bormann says the incident stemmed from an allegation regarding the use of force, but upon further investigation, it was found that the complaint was unfounded.
Few details of the complaint were released to KYNT News, however, all citizen complaints against officers are taken seriously. Officer names are never released in these types of complaints.
The investigation stemmed from a domestic disturbance arrest in Yankton in early April.
