The South Dakota Sportswriters basketball poll has the Yankton Gazelles in fourth place this week in Class AA, Wagner is still first in Class A girls with Centerville fourth in Class B.  Viborg-Hurley is second in Class A boys hoops.

Yankton will host Huron tonight in girls basketball, while the Bucks play at second-rated Mitchell in boys basketball.  Our broadcast begins at 7:05 pm on AM 1450, KYNT.

The USD women's team goes for its sixth straight win, hosting Nebraska-Omaha at 7 pm in the Dome.  Coyotes senior Amber Hegge was recognized by College Sports Madness magazine as the Summit League Player of the Week.

The Yankton Gazelles scored 130.05 to place seventh in the ESD Conference gymnastics meet Saturday in Brookings, which was won by Watertown at 148.4.  Elise Kotalik led Yankton with a 17th in the all-around qualifying for state, along with Charlotte Taggart on beam and Lindsay Larson on the vault.

The USD women defeated Missouri-Kansas City 60-54 on Saturday for their fifth straight win.  Senior Amber Hegge of Crofton led the Coyotes (15-6) with 27 points and 11 rebounds.  USD won the men's game 79-63 over UMKC, as the Coyotes (8-14) were paced by Charlie Westbrook with 28 points.

#10 Briar Cliff routed Mount Marty 110-74 Saturday in women's basketball, snapping the Lancers five-game winning streak.  In the men's game, #15-rated Briar Cliff pulled away late for a 68-61 victory over the Lancers.  Mount Marty will host Northwestern in a doubleheader Wednesday starting at 6 pm at the Cimpl Arena.

The Yankton Bucks dropped a 57-55 decision against Brandon Valley on Friday, as Lynx senior Ben Schultz had 27 points including the game-winning three-point basket in the final minute.  Jackson Seitzinger led Yankton with 15 points, while Connor Fitzsimmons hit four three-points shots in the second half for 12 points.
