KYNT Local Sports for 9-9-20

The Yankton Bucks soccer squad scored three goals in the first half and beat the Tea Area Titans 4-1 last night.  Gage Becker scored the first Yankton goal, while Alex Nockels had a goal and assist as the Bucks evened their record at 4 and 4 on the season.  In the girls contest, the Yankton Gazelles and Tea Area battled to a scoreless draw.  Yankton will face Sioux Falls Roosevelt in a soccer doubleheader next Tuesday at Crane-Youngworth Field.

Sioux Falls O’Gorman defeated Yankton 8-1 in girls tennis on Tuesday inside the Easton Archery Center.  Nora Krajewski picked up the lone Gazelles victory, winning at number-two singles.  Yankton will face Vermillion Thursday at 4:00 at the USD courts.

Fourth-ranked Sioux Falls Washington swept Yankton in volleyball last night by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-8.  Jordynn Salvatori led the Gazelles with eight kills as their record fell to 1 and 7 overall.  Yankton plays at Brandon Valley tomorrow.

The Yankton Gazelles club softball team swept Sioux Falls Washington last night by scores of 10-0 and 10-8.  Lexi Madson pitched the shutout for Yankton with nine strikeouts.  The Gazelles are 8 and 6 this season and will host Watertown on Sunday at Sertoma Park.

The Mount Marty University men’s golf team stands in 12th place with a 382 total after the first round of the Blue River Classic in Lincoln.  The 36-hole tourney concludes today.  The Mount Marty women’s golf squad will host their annual invitational Thursday and Friday at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton.

The Mount Marty University women’s soccer team opens their season with a non-conference game at Dordt University.
