The Yankton Bucks football team is on top of the South Dakota Media poll this week after a 52-29 victory Friday over three-time defending state champion Pierre. Brookings is second in Class 11-AA, followed by the Governors, Mitchell and Huron. Viborg-Hurley is still rated first in Class 9-AA football and Canistota-Freeman slipped to second place in the Class 9-A Media Poll.
The Yankton Bucks golf squad shot a 322 team total and placed sixth in the Brookings Invitational on Monday. Dawson Vellek and Gavin Haselhorst led Yankton with rounds of 79. The Bucks finished second in the ESD Conference Junior Varsity tournament yesterday in Huron. Yankton junior Jace Tramp won the conference JV title with a 74.

The Yankton girls tennis team is on the home courts today. The Gazelles are hosting Mitchell and Sioux Falls Lincoln in a triangular beginning at 10 a-m.
The Yankton High School soccer teams are back in action today with a home doubleheader against Sioux Falls Roosevelt. The girls contest starts at 4:00 at Crane-Youngworth Field, followed by the boys matchup at 6:00. The Gazelles are seeded 16th with a 1-6-1 record and the Bucks are 4-4 and seeded 12th.
The Yankton Gazelles volleyball squad hosts an unbeaten Dakota Valley team tonight at 7:00. The Gazelles are 1 and 8 overall and seeded 16th in AA volleyball, while the Panthers are ranked second in Class A.
The Yankton girls softball team is riding a four-game winning streak and stands at 10-6 overall. The Gazelles will entertain Brandon Valley in a 6:00 twin bill tonight at Sertoma Park. Yankton is tied for sixth place in the state rankings.
The Mount Marty University volleyball team has a non-conference match at York College tonight at 7:00. The Lancers are 3-5 overall, while this evening is the season opener for York.
