The 88th annual South Dakota amateur baseball tournament began last night at Cadwell Park in Mitchell. In the first game, Groton eliminated Madison 7-4 and the nightcap saw the Dell Rapids Mudcats whip Plankinton 14-1. Today at 11:00 in the Class B tournament, the Tabor Bluebirds meet Parkston followed by the Lesterville Broncs against Alexandria.
Yankton Bucks senior Landon Moe finished in a tie for 172nd place out of more than 230 golfers this week at the High School Boys Golf National Invitational in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Moe shot a 93 yesterday after an 84 and 78 in his first two rounds at Pinehurst.
The Nebraska School Activities Association Board of Directors held a special meeting this week and voted unanimously to proceed with the Fall Sports season. Each sport has a special set of guidelines to follow for coaches and players, and first practices will be starting next Monday, August 10th.
The Nebraska State Colleges have announced a Multi-Activity Student Award. These awards from Wayne, Peru and Chadron State Colleges will recognize high school students who participate in at least three sanctioned activities during the year. The school in each of the four Nebraska classes with the most multi-activity students will be presented a banner to display in their school.
Mount Marty University has announced a list of 25 total recruits for their men’s and women’s Track & Field and Cross-Country programs. Lancer coach Randy Fischer says the list of recruits includes eleven student-athletes from South Dakota and six from Nebraska.
