The public and members of the Yankton County Commission heard the first reading Tuesday night of the proposed changes to Yankton County’s zoning ordinances regulating production livestock.
Planning Commission Chair Kristie Schultz says the proposals represent a year and a half’s worth of work by the commission to reach consensus on a difficult issue.
Commissioner Dan Klimisch says one of the proposed changes allows residents to waive their rights to a setback from CAFO’s.
Commission Chair Cheri Loest says citizens should carefully review exactly what is being proposed before the second reading in two weeks.
The next meeting of the Yankton County Commission is set for 6 PM August 18th.
