Pierre used strong pitching to shut out Yankton 8-0 and 10-0 Tuesday night in the Class A best-of-three playoff series for Legion Baseball at Hyde Stadium.  Yankton struck out 26 times in the 12 innings of the two Legion games, and finished up with a 6 and 18 season record.

The Sioux Falls Squirrels rolled past the Yankton Lakers 15-0 last night in a Class A amateur baseball district game at Riverside Field.  The Lakers will now face the Vermillion Grey Sox this evening in Yankton in a losers bracket game.

Wynot beat top-seed Tabor 5-1 in the District 6-B amateur baseball tournament at the Menno ballpark last night as Jackson Sudbeck pitched the complete game victory with ten strikeouts.  Crofton defeated second-seed Menno 10-5 in the second contest that ended this morning after a long rain delay.

The NAIA Council of Presidents voted Tuesday to postpone the national championships in Volleyball, Soccer and Cross-Country to the spring of 2021.  The NAIA has allowed local conferences to decide if they can hold regular season competitions in their area, and last week the G-PAC announced they would move ahead with fall sports at this time.

The Summit League Presidents Council has delayed the starts of competition in Fall Sports until September 23rd.  The Summit League will conduct conference-only competition in soccer and volleyball this fall.  The League statement says training and practices may continue at the discretion of each institution in accordance with NCAA regulations and local health and safety guidelines.  The Summit League decision does not impact Coyote football, which competes in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

Coby Welch from California shot a two-day total of 13-under-par to win the Hillcrest Qualifying Tournament and five-thousand dollars.  Welch finished four shots ahead of Hugo Bernard from Quebec and five strokes over Ryan Porch of Montana.  Former Mount Marty golf coach Logan Wagner won the Ladies event yesterday with an 84, two shots over Hannah Withrow and Mandi Gause. The 72-hole Hillcrest Pro-Am Invitational golf tournament begins tomorrow in Yankton.
