In District 6-B amateur baseball elimination games Sunday night at the Menno ballpark, Lesterville and Irene advanced in the tournament.  Lesterville downed Scotland 8-2 as Michael Drotzmann fired a four-hitter with nine strikeouts.  Drotzmann and Dave Schmidt each had three hits for the Broncs.  Irene rolled past Freeman 16-3 last night as Jamison Kleinsasser allowed just one run in seven innings for the win.  There are two winners bracket games tomorrow night in District 6-B at Menno.

An amateur baseball district in Class A will be held this week at Riverside Field in Yankton.  The Yankton Lakers will face Vermillion in the first district game this evening at 7:30.  Tonight’s winner will face the Sioux Falls Squirrels in the Class A district Tuesday at Riverside Field.

The Yankton Legion baseball team is the 13th seed in Class A, and will play a best two-of-three regional at Pierre starting Tuesday at 5:00.  Yankton was 4 and 15 against other Class A teams in South Dakota this season, while fourth-seed Pierre was 17 and 8 this summer.  The winner advances to another best-of-three playoff series starting August 3rd.

The Yankton Black Sox youth baseball squad swept a doubleheader over Norfolk Saturday by scores of 5-4 and 10-2.  Mac Ryken was the winner in relief in the opener, and Luke Bernatow drove in four runs for the Black Sox in the nightcap.  Yankton is 17 and 10 overall and will play at Crofton today.

Joel Thelen from Lansing, Michigan shot a 63 Sunday at the Worthington Country Club to finish at 15-under-par and win the three-day tournament on the Dakotas Tour.  The Tour hits Yankton today for two tournaments this week at Hillcrest Country Club.
