In District 6-B amateur baseball first-round play Friday night at the Menno ballpark, Crofton doubled up Freeman 4-2.  Tyler Priest pitched a complete-game seven-hitter for the Bluejays with eight strikeouts.  In the nightcap, Menno outscored Irene 13-8 as Macon Oplinger smashed two home runs for the Mad Frogs.

Sunday in the District 6-B elimination games, Lesterville takes on Scotland at 5:00, followed by Irene against Freeman.

An amateur baseball regional in Class A will be held early next week at Riverside Field in Yankton.  The Yankton Lakers will face the Vermillion GreySox in the first game of the tournament Monday evening.  The Sioux Falls Squirrels are also in that double elimination tournament next week.

A California golfer put up nine birdies Friday to grab the lead on the Dakotas Golf Tour stop at the Worthington Country Club.  Gregory Robarge fired a 63 for a two-stroke lead in the Worthington event which runs through Sunday.  The Dakotas Tour hits Yankton and Hillcrest Country Club for six days of golf next week.
