KYNT Local Sports for 7-20-20

The Mount Marty University football coaching staff has added a pair of graduate assistants.  Ethan Andersen will coach the wide receivers and assist the offense.  Andersen is a graduate from Lincoln Pius and played quarterback for Nebraska Wesleyan.  M-J Piranio will be the graduate defensive assistant at Mount Marty.  Piranio prepped at Don Bosco in New Jersey and last year was the Quality Control coach at St. Thomas Aquinas College in New York.

South Dakota State forward Matt Dentlinger was named to the Honors Court list by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.  Dentlinger was chosen as a second team All-Summit League selection after averaging 15 points and 6 boards per game for the Jacks and leading the league with 69 percent field goal accuracy. He carries a 4.0 GPA majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Despite a 5-3 loss against Winnipeg Sunday afternoon, the Sioux Falls Canaries are still leading the American Association this season.  The Canaries have a 9 and 5 season record as they host the St. Paul Saints in a three-game series beginning tomorrow night at the Birdcage.

Joshua Gibson from Michigan won the Moccasin Creek event on the Dakotas Golf Tour Sunday with a three-day total of 11-under-par.  Sioux Falls professional Andre Metzger ended up third with an eight-under score, and kept his lead in the Bonus Point standings.  The Dakotas Tour has a 36-hole event starting tomorrow in Watertown.
