In South Central League amateur baseball last night, Menno scored the final nine runs of the contest to upset the Yankton Tappers 10-8. It was the Tappers first loss of the season. Adam Walter and Dylan Lehr each homered for Menno, while Colin Muth had three hits and three runs scored for the Tappers. Crofton topped the Yankton Lakers 6-2 as James Keiser pitched the complete-game victory. Alec Martin led the Bluejays with three hits including a home run. Wynot surprised Tabor 16-8 as Kyle Wiepen led the Expos with a home run, three RBI’s and three runs scored. Chase Kortan had three hits including a homer for the Bluebirds.
Tonight at Riverside Field, the Yankton Lakers will host the Freeman Black Sox.
Mount Marty College has received a commitment from pitcher Myles Brown for their baseball program after playing two years of Junior College baseball at Broward College in Florida. Brown is 6’7” tall weighing 190 pounds and pitches right-handed.
The South Dakota Husband-Wife Golf Championships were held the past two days at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen. Justin and Morgan Johnson from Watertown won the state title with a one-under par total of 143. In the Senior Division, Jamie and Merrick Monaghan of Yankton placed third in Third Flight with a weekend total of 180.
