KYNT Local Sports for 6-24-20

The Yankton Tappers needed two runs in the ninth to stay unbeaten after a 3-1 victory over Wynot.  Tyler Linch had three hits including the game-winning double and Cooper Davis fired a complete-game five-hitter with 13 strikeouts for the Tappers.  Scott Morrison pitched a complete game for Wynot in the defeat.  The Yankton Lakers picked up a 10-8 victory at Freeman as Kieran Luellman pitched a complete-game six-hitter and Rex Ryken had three hits for the Lakers.  Bailey Sage belted a grand-slam homer for the Black Sox.  Menno used a grand-slam homer from Dylan Lehr in a 13-6 win over Lesterville as Macon Oplinger pitched a complete game victory and drove in three runs.  Tabor downed Crofton 8-1 as Preston White threw four shutout innings for the victory in relief and Joey Slama led the Bluebirds with three hits.

The Yankton Legion baseball squad dropped a pair of games in Brandon Tuesday by five runs each.  Sioux Falls East outscored Yankton 14-9 yesterday morning and Pierre defeated Yankton 6-1 in the afternoon.  Jayden Lightner had four hits on the day for Yankton, and Carson Haak homered in the opener. Sam Kampshoff pitched five shutout innings for Yankton in the second game. Yankton now has a season record of 1 and 4 with three games upcoming in Rapid City later this week.

Mount Marty College has signed a pair of Junior College transfers for their volleyball program.  Lexi Kirkman played junior college volleyball in California and Allison Jones competed in North Dakota. Kirkman and Jones are both 5’11” middle hitters and each will have two years of eligibility for the Lancers.
