KYNT Local Sports for 6-22-20

Yankton scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge Tabor 4-3 Saturday night in the Legion baseball season opener.  Kaid Keller was the winning pitcher in relief and Austin Wagner led Yankton with two hits.

Watertown swept a Legion Baseball doubleheader over Yankton Sunday by scores of 12-2 and 12-7 at Riverside Field.  Kaid Keller had four hits on the day, while Cameron Zahrbock had two hits and two runs scored in the second game.

Yankton is scheduled to face Pierre and Sioux Falls East in games at Sioux Falls on Tuesday.

 

In amateur baseball Sunday night, Menno outscored Lesterville 12-8 in 12 innings.  Zach Scott belted a three-run homer in the 12th for the game-winner, and Adam Walter hit two home runs for Menno.  Tabor pounded 23 hits in a 20-3 romp over Scotland last night.  Joey Slama blasted six hits for the Bluebirds and Chase Kortan had a home run and drove in four runs.

 

The Nebraska Eight-Man All-Star Football Game won’t be played this summer because of the Covid-19 pandemic but the rosters were announced.  Shaye Morten from Hartington-Newcastle and Braden Eisenhauer of Bloomfield were named to the All-Star team.  Matt Kuchar of Bloomfield was selected for the East Team coaching staff.
