Yankton County Zoning Change Approved

The Yankton County Commission has given its approval to a change in the county’s zoning regulations that will allow residents to build larger accessory structures without the need for a variance to the zoning code granted by the county commission.

Commissioner Dan Klimisch says the change was needed because of the trend among residents to construct larger buildings to store items such as boats and campers.

Commissioner Joe Healy says he has heard no negative comments or concerns on the amendment.

The zoning amendment was passed on a four to one vote with Commissioner Gary Swensen casting the lone no vote.
