The fate of youth baseball programs in Yankton and towns across South Dakota this summer lies in their local organizations. Sunday afternoon, the American Legion National Headquarters suspended all states from Legion baseball this year. The Yankton Baseball Association has about 75 interested youngsters looking to play at the various levels of organized baseball. The YBA is meeting this week including tonight to discuss possibilities for holding baseball programs this year.
The Mount Marty football team has inked another recruit from Texas for their new program. Isaac Broades is a 6’3”, 200 pound linebacker from Denton, Texas who has committed to the gridiron for the Lancers, who now have signed over 25 student athletes for their program which starts competition in the fall of 2021.
Mount Marty College has signed Alyssa Wilson from Tulsa, Oklahoma for their women’s track and field program. Wilson ran hurdles and sprints for Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa and she also plans to compete in the heptathlon for the Lancers.
Mount Marty has received a commitment for their men’s track and field squad from Kienan Prorok from Columbus, Nebraska. Prorok is a 6-foot senior from Lakeview High School who will compete in the jumping events and sprints for Mount Marty.
