KYNT Local Sports for 5-1

Mount Marty College has recruited 25 incoming student-athletes for their track and field program.  Head coach Randy Fischer says a commitment this week was Reggie McGaugh from Omaha Burke, who had a strong season in both the long jump and triple jump in high school.  Deontae Howard will also join the Lancers after a strong track and football career at Titusville High School in Florida.  Howard will run sprints and compete in the long jump at Mount Marty.

The Mount Marty College Competitive Cheer program has added two new recruits this week.  Sydney Franken of Vermillion and Hailee Like from Pierre will join the Cheer team and Spirit Squad for the Lancers.  Franken plans to major in Radiology Technology and Like expects to major in Biology at Mount Marty.

The Yankton Baseball Association has cancelled their two major tournaments for this year’s season.  The Lewis & Clark Classic involves playing sites in Vermillion, Crofton and Hartington as well as Yankton with the Final Four played at Riverside Field.  The First Dakota Classic last summer paid tribute and raised funds for the Kyle Mueller family.  The Yankton Baseball Association hopes to bring both tournaments back to the field in 2021.

The KYNT “Classic YHS Game of the Week” will be the Yankton Gazelles Soccer championship game against Aberdeen Central played last October 19th at the Harrisburg field.  Our re-broadcast of Gazelles Soccer begins at 6:00 this evening and the edited game lasts around 90 minutes.
