The last two nominees were announced last night for the Sanford Pentagon KELOLAND Media Basketball Player of the Year in South Dakota.
Kyah Watson is a 5’10” senior who led Rapid City Stevens to a 20 and 1 record by averaging 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals per game this season. Watson is a three-time All-State selection and will attend school and play basketball at the University of South Dakota.
Ryder Kirsch is a 6’6” senior who led St. Thomas More to a number-one ranking in Class A by averaging more than 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists per game.
Those two have joined eight other high school standouts including Yankton junior Matthew Mors as the ten nominees for the South Dakota Basketball Players of the Year.
The televised and on-line program this evening will honor these players, announce the two winners, and include a taped message from Kansas University men’s basketball head coach Bill Self.
