KYNT Local Sports for 3-21-20

Mount Marty College senior guard Chris King of Des Moines has been named to the N-A-I-A All-American Third Team.  It’s the first time in 15 years a Lancer men’s basketball player has received that national honor.  King averaged 21 points per game, he set a Lancer men’s record with 100 three-point baskets, and he led the team with 47 steals.  Mount Marty finished with a 20 and 12 overall record, their most victories in a season in the past 16 years.

The Yankton Youth Soccer Association has announced it will delay the start of their spring season until the week of April 20th.  The Yankton Youth Soccer leaders will update the situation next month.

Today would have been Championship Day for five state high school basketball tournaments in South Dakota, including the final day for the Yankton Bucks and Gazelles at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls.  The South Dakota High School Activities Association has emphasized that the state tournaments are suspended and postponed at this time.

KYNT Sports is still bringing you basketball on the radio this week, and tonight we will re-broadcast the Yankton Bucks championship victory over Harrisburg from March 17th two years ago.  Our re-play of that title game starts at 6:00 tonight on AM 1450, KYNT.
