KYNT Local Sports for 2-8-20

The Yankton Bucks wrestling squad lost a pair of dual meets last night.  Aberdeen Central slipped past Yankton 40-23 and top-rated Brandon Valley downed the Bucks 58-11.  Owen Warren and Kyler Lillie each won two matches for Yankton. The Bucks have their annual Wrestling Invitational today at the Summit Activities Center.  There are 19 teams competing in the meet which begins at 9:00 this morning and runs through the afternoon.

The Yankton Gazelles gymnastics team goes for honors this afternoon at the ESD Conference meet in Harrisburg, with the top four teams automatically qualifying for the state meet next week in Aberdeen.

The Mount Marty women’s basketball team has a home game today facing the College of St. Mary at the Cimpl Arena.  The Lancers are eighth in the G-PAC with a 6 and 11 record and 12 and 12 overall, while the Flames are 11th place in the conference.  Our broadcast of Lancer basketball begins at 1:30 on 1450, KYNT.

The Mount Marty College indoor track team will compete along with many other schools at the Dome in Vermillion today in the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet.

The South Dakota men’s basketball team plays at North Dakota this afternoon at 2:00, and the 17th-ranked Coyote women’s basketball squad is at North Dakota tomorrow at 2:00.

The USD softball squad opened their season by splitting two games in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Friday.  The Coyotes beat Northern Iowa 5-3 and lost to Drake 4-0 yesterday.  South Dakota plays two more games today at the tournament, taking on Murray State and DePaul.
