As the 2020 session of the South Dakota Legislature moves forward, updated revenue projections paint a more positive picture regarding the amount of dollars lawmakers will have to work with into the future.
District 18 Representative Jean Hunhoff says a lingering question is how the ag sector will perform.
Hunhoff says while in many ways South Dakota is better off than other parts of the country, a poor year for ag producers could change that.
Hunhoff says cutting services and programs due to low revenues will have consequences throughout the state.
Current projections are that the legislature about one-point-seven-four billion dollars in revenue for the next fiscal year which begins this July, an increase of around nineteen million dollars from previous estimates.
