Gavins Point Dam Releases

In order to prepare the Missouri River reservoir system for this spring’s run-off, the US Army Corps of Engineers has ramped up releases from Gavins Point Dam.

Engineer Kevin Grode (groh-dee) says most of the ground in the upper Missouri River basin is extremely saturated.

While it will not reach peak levels for about two more months, Grode says mountain snowpack is currently about normal for this time of the year.

Gavins Point Dam releases have been increased to thirty five thousand cubic feet per second, during the winter months releases usually average twelve to fifteen thousand c-f-s.
