Yankton is now rated second in this week’s South Dakota Media Class Double-A boys basketball poll. Brandon Valley is first in the state, followed by the Bucks, Huron, Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Sioux Falls O’Gorman. Viborg-Hurley is unbeaten and moved into first place in Class B boys basketball while St. Thomas More still leads the Class A boys ranking. In the South Dakota Media girls basketball poll, Sioux Falls O’Gorman, Winner and Corsica-Stickney are the statewide leaders.
The Yankton Bucks face yet another unbeaten team on the basketball court this evening. Yankton is 4 and 2 on the season and will host Sioux City East, a team that has won seven consecutive games and is rated in the top six in Iowa. The game starts at 7:00 at the Summit Activities Center, and our broadcast begins at 6:45 tonight on AM 1450, KYNT.
The Yankton Bucks wrestling squad is 6 and 5 in dual meets this season and has a pair of tough E-S-D Conference matches this evening at Harrisburg. The Bucks will have a match against the host Tigers and the Mitchell Kernels with the triangular starting at 5 p-m.
The South Dakota women’s basketball team has moved up to number 22 in this week’s A-P national poll. The Coyotes are 14 and 2 overall and this represents their highest A-P ranking in the Division One era. U-S-D is unbeaten in three Summit League games and will host Omaha Saturday afternoon.
South Dakota senior guard Ciara Duffy of Rapid City has been named the Summit League women’s basketball player of the week. Duffy averaged 19 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists per game in a pair of Coyote league victories last week.
