Mount Marty put together a 25-point third quarter and defeated the College of St. Mary 72-66 Saturday in women’s basketball in Omaha. Ali Kuca of Dante hit seven three-point shots to lead the Lancers with 23 points, and she has tied Logan Wagner for the Mount Marty career record with 275 three-point baskets. Molly Koisti added 15 points and 4 steals while Jamie Tebben had another triple-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The Mount Marty women are 9 and 6 overall and eighth place in the G-PAC standings.
The Mount Marty men’s basketball squad pulled away late and edged Waldorf University 85-79 in non-conference basketball Saturday at the Cimpl Arena. Colby Johnson led the Lancers with 26 points and Chris King added 25 points in the win. Mount Marty is 14 and 3 overall, 23rd ranked in the nation and tied for second in the G-PAC with Dakota Wesleyan and Northwestern. The Lancers now have a conference doubleheader at Dordt College on Wednesday night.
The U-S-D women’s basketball team crushed Denver 104-61 Sunday in Vermillion. Ciara Duffy led the Coyotes with 19 points and 11 rebounds, Hannah Sherven added 18 points and 12 boards and Taylor Frederick had 14 points and 10 rebounds as three players hit double-doubles for the contest. U-S-D is 14 and 2 on the season and the 22nd-ranked Coyotes are unbeaten in three League games.
The South Dakota men’s basketball squad picked up their first Summit League win yesterday by edging Denver University 80-78 at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Senior Tyler Hagedorn of Norfolk led the Coyotes with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The U-S-D men are 10 and 7 overall and will be part of a doubleheader at home against Omaha on Saturday afternoon.
Sioux Falls Washington topped Yankton 46-26 Saturday afternoon in girls basketball. Senior Madison Wuebben led the Gazelles with 16 points as their season record fell to 3 and 4 overall. Yankton High School has a doubleheader coming up Saturday afternoon at Sioux Falls Lincoln, while the Bucks host unbeaten Sioux City East Tuesday night.
