The Mount Marty College basketball teams are back in action tonight taking on Briar Cliff in a G-PAC doubleheader at the Cimpl Arena. The Lancer women are eighth in the conference and 11 and 10 on the season, while the Chargers have a 5 and 17 overall record. The 17th-ranked Mount Marty men are third in the G-PAC and 17 and 6 overall, while Briar Cliff has an 11 and 12 record. Twin sisters Bree and Brooklyn Eisenhauer of Bloomfield will attend Mount Marty College and continue their athletic careers. Bree Eisenhauer is a long-distance runner and will compete in cross-country and track for Mount Marty, while Brooklyn Eisenhauer will be in the throwing events for the Lancer track team.
The South Dakota women’s basketball team has a 7:00 game at Omaha tonight. The Coyotes are 19 and 2 overall and unbeaten in eight Summit League games, while Omaha has a 6 and 14 season record. USD is rated 18th in the USAToday/Coaches poll and 21st in the A-P rankings.
USD senior Zack Anderson of Parker has been named the Summit League Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. Anderson won the high jump at a meet in Brookings on Saturday with a leap of 7 feet, 3 ¼ inches…the seventh best indoor high jump in the NCAA this season. The Coyotes continue their track and field season this Saturday at the Adidas Classic in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Crofton Lady Warriors are sitting in third place in the Class C-2 girls basketball point standings this week with a 14 and 3 season record. The Wynot Lady Blue Devils are 14 and 2 overall and stand in fourth place in the Class D-2 point totals. In Nebraska boys basketball, Hartington Cedar Catholic is 9 and 5 overall and ranked eighth in Class C-2. In Class D-1 boys, Osmond is unbeaten in 15 games and seeded third in the state with Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 12 and 4 on the season and fifth in the ranking.
