The Yankton Bucks still have two undefeated wrestlers so far this season. Sophomore Owen Warren and senior Trevor Ellis are each unbeaten in 16 matches. Warren is rated first in the state at 195 pounds, while Ellis is ranked fourth at heavyweight. Tucker Bahm is 15 and 2 and rated fifth in the state for the Bucks, who compete in the Brandon Valley Wrestling Invitational on Saturday.
The Yankton Gazelles gymnastics squad has their first competition in a three week span coming up tomorrow. The Gazelles have not had a meet since December 21st, and tomorrow Yankton will go for honors in the Brookings Invitational starting at noon.
The Mount Marty College basketball teams are back home again tomorrow. The Lancers will host Midland University in a women’s and men’s G-PAC doubleheader starting at 2:00 at the Cimpl Arena.
South Dakota State picked up an 86-79 women’s basketball victory at Denver last night. Senior Megan Bultsma and sophomore Paiton Burckhard each scored a career-best 24 points for the Jackrabbits, who are unbeaten in the Summit League and 12 and 6 on the season. South Dakota State has a women’s game at Fort Wayne on Sunday.
The South Dakota basketball squads have another home doubleheader tomorrow. USD will host Omaha at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center, with the women’s contest beginning at 1:00 and the men’s game at 3:30.
The Summit League Women’s Tennis pre-season poll was announced this week. Six-time defending champion Denver was picked to win the league title again, with South Dakota chosen for third place. The Coyotes return four players from last year’s team, and USD starts their season January 18th with a match at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
