A former Chairman of the Yankton County Commission says he intends to proceed with an open meetings law complaint following an action at the October 1st meeting of the board.
Former Yankton County Commissioner Todd Woods says during that meeting, the commission took action on items that had not been listed on the agenda which violates state statutes on open meetings.
Yankton County States Attorney Rob Klimisch says while the agenda could have been more specific, he doesn’t see an open meetings law violation in the commission’s action.
Without any action on the issue at Tuesday’s meeting Woods says he will follow up with filing a complaint.
Klimisch says if a complaint is filed with the Yankton County States Attorney’s Office, he will forward it to either another county’s States Attorney or the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office for their review on any potential action.
