The South Dakota High School football semifinals will be held this evening.  In Class 9-Double-A, second-seed Bon Homme will host Deuel at 7 p-m and top-seed Viborg-Hurley entertains Lemmon-McIntosh at 6 p-m.  In the Class 9-A semifinal at 7 p-m, third-seed Canistota-Freeman plays at Sully Buttes

In the Nebraska High School volleyball tournament in Lincoln, second-seed Wynot edged Falls City Sacred Heart 3-2 in the opening round last night.  The Lady Blue Devils are 25 and 3 overall and will meet B-D-S this afternoon in the Class D-2 semifinals.  In a Class D-1 first round match, Hartington Cedar Catholic swept past C-W-C Thursday 3-0.  The Trojans take on Diller-Odell today in the semis.

Top-ranked Sioux Falls O’Gorman topped Yankton in volleyball last night by scores of 26-24, 25-19 and 25-10.  Senior Gabby Pietila led the Gazelles with 10 kills and 3 blocks, while eighth-grader Camille McDermott recorded 21 assists.  Yankton finished the regular season with a 5 and 22 record, and the Gazelles will be the 16th seed in the SoDak 16 playoffs next Thursday.

The USD volleyball squad can clinch the Summit League regular season title this evening with a victory against North Dakota State.  The Coyotes are 24 and 1 on the season and have won 21 consecutive matches.  The contest starts at 7:00 with Senior Night festivities at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion.

The University of South Dakota opens their basketball season tonight against Pacific, the first of three games in Hawaii.  The Coyotes are in their second year under head Coach Todd Lee, and they will take on Hawaii tomorrow night and face Florida A & M on Monday.

The Mount Marty men’s basketball team has two games in North Dakota this weekend.  The Lancers are 4 and 1 this season and will face a winless Valley City State team tonight at 7:00.  Mount Marty will play at Mayville State tomorrow at 4:00, a team that is 4 and 1 with two wins over G-PAC opponents last week.  Our broadcast of Lancer men’s basketball starts at 6:30 this evening on 1450, KYNT.
