KYNT Local Sports for 11-30

For the first time in 15 years, the Mount Marty College men’s basketball team is receiving votes in the NAIA national poll.  The Lancer men got five votes in the poll released Wednesday and are rated 36th in the nation with a 9 and 2 season record.  Mount Marty takes on 20th-ranked St. Ambrose, Iowa today at 5:30 p-m in a game that will be played in Fort Dodge.  St. Ambrose is 8 and 1 this season and unbeaten in the Chicagoland Conference.  Our broadcast starts at 5:00 today on AM 1450, KYNT.

The South Dakota men’s basketball team plays at 2 and 1 Northern Arizona this afternoon.  The Coyotes are 6 and 1 overall this season.

The South Dakota women’s basketball team rolled past Ohio State 68-53 Friday in Las Vegas.  Senior Ciara Duffy led the Coyotes with 22 points, 12 boards and 7 assists.  USD is 6 and 1 on the season with a game this afternoon in Vegas against Northern Illinois.

The South Dakota State women’s basketball team earned its second consecutive upset victory in Mexico with a 65-59 win over former national champion Notre Dame on Friday.  Tori Nelson led the Jacks with 15 points and 13 rebounds as they raised their record to 5 and 2 with the program’s one-thousandth career win.  SDSU takes on Florida Gulf Coast today in the final game of the Cancun Challenge.

The Yankton High School winter sports season gets underway Monday.  The Gazelles gymnastics team travels to Mitchell for a meet against the Kernels and Parkston starting at 6 p-m.
