Local officials are hoping to get a second opinion from the state Department of Transportation on the impact that two flooding events have had on the Jamesville Bridge and financial aid to repair the damage.
The state determined that damage to the structure was not from flooding and declined to pay about two hundred thousand dollars for repairs.
Yankton County Commission Chairman Dan Klimisch says after speaking earlier this week with D-O-T staff it appears the state may be reconsidering their decision on the bridge.
Klimisch says funding for repairs from the state will play a critical role in getting the bridge re-opened.
Klimisch says he expects to hear more from the state on the Jamesville Bridge situation next week.
