Mount Marty swept a G-PAC soccer doubleheader over Dakota Wesleyan last night at Crane-Youngworth Field.  The Lancer women blanked the Tigers 1-0 as Consuelo Michel had six saves in goal.  The Mount Marty men scored two goals in the second half to beat Wesleyan 3-1.  Both Lancer teams now have two G-PAC wins heading into a doubleheader at Concordia on Saturday.

The second-ranked Northwestern volleyball team is undefeated in 19 matches after beating Mount Marty at the Cimpl Arena last night by scores of 25-22, 25-6 and 25-16.  Mikaela Ahrendt had eight kills in the opening set as the Lancers are now 7 and 15 on the season.

South Dakota senior libero Anne Rasmussen is one of 30 volleyball players across the nation selected for the Senior CLASS Award.  Rasmussen is the only player from the Summit League nominated for this honor, which embodies four traits including character, classroom, community and competition.  She was the Summit League Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 and carries a cumulative 3.93 GPA.

The South Sioux City Cross-Country Invitational has been cancelled today because of flooding, but the Yankton runners will still be in action.  The Yankton High School and Middle School cross-country squad will compete at the Watoma Invitational starting at 4:00 today.

The Yankton Gazelles are winless in 14 volleyball matches this season, and will play at a 5 and 5 Harrisburg team at 7:00 tonight.

There are four area teams among the top 24 teams in the Class D-2 Nebraska high school football rankings this week.  The undefeated Bloomfield Bees have moved to number-one in the state, undefeated Plainview is rated 12th, Hartington-Newcastle stands 17th in Class D-2 and Wynot is rated 23rd in the state.

Former South Dakota State and Sioux Falls Roosevelt quarterback Taryn Christion has been signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Christion arrived for the practice squad Wednesday afternoon as the Steelers face the Ravens on Sunday.
