The Yankton Gazelles soccer team scored on a goal by Madison Wuebben with ten minutes left to tie Pierre 1-1 last night.  Sadie Fedders stopped a penalty kick in the second half as top-rated Yankton moved their overall record to 10-0-2 heading into the final regular season game Saturday at Huron.

The Yankton Bucks whipped Pierre 6-1 Tuesday at Crane-Youngworth Field as Luke Schulz led the attack with two goals.  The Yankton boys are now 6-5-1 this season with their final game Saturday at Huron before playoffs start on Tuesday.

Brookings got past Yankton in E-S-D volleyball Tuesday by scores of 25-12, 25-10, 23-25 and 25-19.  Senior Gabby Pietila led the Gazelles with 14 kills.  Yankton remained winless on the season and will visit Harrisburg for a match on Thursday.

In boys golf Tuesday, Yankton tied Harrisburg at 159 each in a meet shortened to nine holes because of the weather conditions.  Junior Landon Moe of Yankton was the medalist with a 37 at Spring Creek Golf Course.  The Class Double-A State Tourney will be next Monday and Tuesday at Hillcrest Country Club in Yankton.

 

This is a busy night in Yankton for Mount Marty College student-athletes.  The Lancer soccer teams will host Dakota Wesleyan in a doubleheader beginning at 5:00 at Crane-Youngworth Field.  The Mount Marty volleyball team entertains second-ranked Northwestern at 7:30 tonight in the Cimpl Arena.

In women’s soccer, Mount Marty is 2 and 2 and Wesleyan is 3 and 4 this season.  In the men’s matchup, the Lancers and Tigers both have two wins so far.

The Northwestern volleyball team is undefeated in 18 matches this season, while Mount Marty is 7 and 14 overall heading into action this evening.

The U-S-D men’s golf team posted a 285 Tuesday to move up four places and finish sixth at the Zach Johnson Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa.  Senior Matt Tolan led the Coyotes with a final round 69 and tied for ninth place with a 238.
