The Mount Marty women’s soccer team shut out Presentation 1-0 yesterday at Crane-Youngworth Field to open up the GPAC schedule. Taylor Dunn scored the game’s only goal and Madyson Gillbertson stopped six shots to get the shutout.
In the men’s soccer contest, Mount Marty rolled past Presentation 6-1. Miguel Ponce and Fernando Negrete each had two goals for the Lancers on Wednesday. The Mount Marty women and men won conference soccer games on the same day for the first time in school history.
In the GPAC volleyball opener last night at the Cimpl Arena, Briar Cliff swept Mount Marty by scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-15. Amber Miller had 17 assists and 9 digs for the Lancers, who are now 4 and 6 overall as they play four matches at the Peru State Tournament this weekend.
The Mount Marty men’s golf team placed 17th in the Blue River Classic in Lincoln this week, shooting a two-day total of 699. Jackson Faber led the Lancers with a 165 total over two rounds.
The Yankton boys golf team continues their season with a dual meet against Lennox this afternoon at the Fox Run Golf Course, and the Gazelles volleyball squad goes for their first win when they host Harrisburg this evening.
Yankton 14-year-old Miles Krajewski won a Silver medal in the Badminton competition at the Parapan American Games in Peru. Kraskee was part of the first national team to compete in Badminton at these games. He beat athletes from Chile and Canada and lost to a Brazilian in the gold medal match.
The American Association baseball playoffs started last night, and Kansas City outscored Sioux City 12-8. Sebastian Zawada belted a home run among his three hits and drove in three runs for the Explorers in the loss. The best-of-five playoff series continues tonight in Sioux City.
