Top-ranked Pierre scores nine consecutive touchdowns in the first half and blitzed Yankton 63-0 last night. Senior quarterback Garret Stout accounted for a total of 450 yards of offense and scored four rushing touchdowns and tossed four passing touchdowns in the first 18 minutes of the contest. Yankton is 1 and 2 overall and the Bucks will host Vermillion in a homecoming game coming up Friday night at Crane-Youngworth Stadium.
Yankton took second place in the 15-team Yankton Boys Golf Invitational Friday at Hillcrest Country Club. Sioux Falls Roosevelt won the meet with a 309, the Bucks were second at 314, Sioux Falls O’Gorman and Rapid City Stevens tied for third at 321 and Sioux Falls Lincoln placed fifth with a 322. Yankton had four players win individual medals as Gavin Haselhorst was fourth with a 76, Landon Moe tied for fifth place at 78, Austin Frick tied for ninth with a 79 and Jimmie Cunningham tied for 15th place at 81. Yankton will golf Monday at the Brookings Invitational.
Yankton will run today in the Brandon Valley Cross-Country Invitational, and the meet has been moved to the Brandon Middle School. Yankton will have girls and boys soccer games up at Aberdeen Central this afternoon, and the Gazelles tennis team is in Sioux Falls for a triangular against Aberdeen Roncalli and Roosevelt this morning.
Mount Marty won a set from 13th-ranked Jamestown in G-PAC volleyball last night at the Cimpl Arena. The Jimmies won the match 25-18, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-19. Elizabeth Watchorn had 15 kills and 18 digs for the Lancers, who are now 6 and 9 overall heading into a match at 2nd-ranked Northwestern this afternoon.
The Mount Marty women’s golf team concludes their meet at Two Rivers today, and the Lancer cross-country teams will run in the Herb Blakely Meet in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The U-S-D football squad will face Houston Baptist in a 2:00 game in the Dome, while the SDSU football team entertains Drake University at 1:00 in Brookings.
