In the South Dakota Media high school football poll this week, Yankton stands in third place in Class 11-Double-A after losing at Class 11-A fourth-ranked Dakota Valley last Friday. In Class 9-Double-A, Bon Homme and Viborg-Hurley continue to rank one-two in the state, while Canistota-Freeman is rated second in Class 9-A football and Alcester-Hudson moved up to fourth in the state in Class 9-B.
The Yankton junior varsity football lost by a 26-0 score at Watertown on Monday. The Bucks JV will host Sioux City East next Monday at 4:15. The Yankton varsity plays at top-rated Pierre on Friday night.
The Yankton Gazelles tennis team is 11-2 this season and will play a match at SF O’Gorman this afternoon.

The winless Yankton Gazelles will host Washington tonight at 7:00. In Class A volleyball, Parker is third in the state and Elk-Point Jefferson is rated sixth.
The University of South Dakota women’s golf team stands in ninth place after the opening day of the Payne Stewart Memorial Tournament in Missouri. The three day event concludes with an 18-hole round today.
The Mount Marty women’s golf team won the eight-team Midland Invitational on Monday in Fremont. The Lancers shot a 352 score with Concordia one shot behind in second place. Molly Koisti topped Mount Marty with an 85 and Sara Skorheim shot an 87 as both placed in the top ten individually.
The Mount Marty men’s golf squad stands in 15th place after the first day of the Siouxland Invitational in Sioux Center with the 36-hole meet concluding today.
The Mount Marty College men’s soccer team is now 2 and 1 this season after winning 2-1 last night at Tabor College in Kansas. Awais Abid scored the winning goal for the Lancers, who play at Bethel College in Kansas tonight.
