Yankton County Tourism Impact

The importance of tourism to the area economy was highlighted last evening during a report from the Yankton Convention and Visitors Bureau to members of the Yankton City Commission.

Director Kasi Haberman says last year visitor spending in Yankton County increased by three-point-three percent to a total of seventy four million dollars.

Lewis and Clark Lake draws about two million people to our area each year and Haberman says that makes it the second most visited state park in South Dakota behind Custer State Park.

Haberman says one project currently underway is to secure funding to  update the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau strategic plan which was last completed five years ago.
