Yankton Post 12 lost two games in the Gopher Classic Friday at North St. Paul.  The host team edged Yankton 6-4 in the first game this morning.  Michael Drotzmann paced Yankton with three hits and two RBI’s.  Ham Lake / Blaine scored six runs in the seventh inning and defeated Yankton 7-3 this afternoon.  Bailey Sage had two doubles and drove in all three runs for Yankton in that contest.  Yankton now has a 22 and 16 season record and will face Rogers, Minnesota at 2:00 today.    The Gopher Classic is the largest Legion Baseball tournament in the nation with 96 teams competing at 16 separate locations across the Twin Cities.

Four Yankton youth baseball teams are playing in the Sioux Falls Mid-Summer Classic this weekend.  The Yankton Reds topped Marshall, Minnesota 5-3 yesterday as Sean Turner did not allow any earned runs in his six innings on the mound.  The Yankton Black Sox, Grey Sox, and Lakers each lost two games on Friday and all four teams will have a game tonight in their pool at Sioux Falls.

The South Dakota State Fastpitch Girls Softball Tournament is continues today at two locations in Sioux Falls.  There are a record number of 191 teams entered in the state tourney, and Yankton has seven teams going for honors this weekend.

The American Association has begun their second half of the season, and last night Milwaukee downed the Sioux City Explorers 7-3 and Chicago edged the Sioux Falls Canaries 4-3.  In the league’s South Division, the Canaries are in third place two games behind, and the Explorers are four games back in fourth place.
