Tabor doubled up Irene 8-4 in South Central League baseball last night as Hunter Hallock pitched six innings for the win and added three hits for the Bluebirds.  Crofton rolled past Freeman 10-3 as James Kaiser and Austin Hegge each had three hits for the Bluejays and Capp Bengston pitched eight innings in the victory. Scotland upset Menno 7-5 as Jeff Honner smacked a grand-slam home run and Alex Caba had four hits for the winners.

Four Yankton youth baseball teams will play in the Sioux Falls Mid-Summer Classic presented by the Sioux Falls Canaries today through Sunday.  The Yankton Black Sox, Grey Sox, Lakers and Reds will all compete in this event.

The Yankton Post 12 Legion baseball team has two games this morning in the Gopher Classic at the ballpark in North St. Paul.  Yankton is 22 and 14 on the season as they face North St. Paul and then Ham Lake/Blaine in the tourney, with three more games coming up this weekend.

Harrisburg swept Yankton in Junior Legion baseball last night by scores of 16-6 and 26-13.  Trevor Fitzgerald drove in four runs in the second game for Yankton, which is now 12 and 21 on the season.

In Legion baseball on Thursday, Lennox edged Vermillion 12-10 as Mount Marty recruit J-D Kirchner had four hits for Lennox and Zach Foss belted a grand-slam home run.  Vermillion is 9 and 12 overall and plays at Hartington on Sunday.

The South Dakota State Fastpitch Girls Softball Tournament gets underway at two locations today.  There are a record number of 191 teams entered into the state tourney, and Yankton has seven teams competing for honors this weekend.

U-S-D men’s basketball grad Trey Burch-Manning has signed his first professional contract and will play for a team in Holland.  Burch-Manning averaged over 11 points and 6 rebounds per game for the Coyotes last year as he graduated in May with a degree in Sport Marketing and Media.
