The biggest playoff in the history of the Fox Run Pro-Am Golf Tournament took place yesterday in Yankton.  Pro golfer Carson Schaake of Omaha won a four-hole playoff to claim the ten-thousand dollar first place check at Fox, outdueling pros Andre Metzger of Sioux Falls and Brett Robarge from California.  All three had ended the regulation 54-hole tourney with 11-under-par scores of 205.  Arron Lickteig from Marion and Matthew Schaefer of Fordyce tied in the Amateur Division with three-round totals of four-under-par 212, and Lickteig won the title in a one-hole playoff.  Arron joined with his father Chris Lickteig and Pat Honner to win the three-person Amateur team title with a 395 score, four shots better than the group of Darin Cunningham, Larry Guthmiller and Todd Knodel.   The Dakotas Golf Tour continues today and tomorrow at Willow Run Golf Course in Sioux Falls.

Yankton pitchers Luke Bauske and Mitch Gullikson combined on an eight-inning no-hitter as the Tappers blanked Menno 10-0 in amateur baseball on Sunday.  Derrik Nelson and Mason Townsend each drove in four runs for the Tappers.  Tabor nipped Wynot 9-8 in 11 innings as Colin Muth homered twice, drove in four runs and was the winning pitcher in relief for the Bluebirds.  Lesterville defeated Freeman 4-2 as Alex Wagner pitched the complete game win for the Broncs.  Irene nipped Scotland 9-8 as Dusty Livingston drove in the game-winning run.

East Grand Forks edged Yankton 5-4 Sunday in the Junior Legion baseball tournament in Sioux Falls as Austin Wagner had two hits and two RBI’s for Yankton.  The Yankton Black Sox took seventh place in the CorTrust Daryl Bernard Classic this weekend at Riverside Field, as the Black Sox edged Watertown 8-6 on Sunday as Dylan Prouty threw the complete-game victory.

In American Association baseball Sunday, Sioux Falls scored five runs in the first inning and rolled past Milwaukee 9-2.  Mark Seyler pitched seven innings for the Canaries victory.  Lincoln shut out the Sioux City Explorers 3-0 last night.  In the South Division standings, Sioux City and Cleburne are tied for first place with Kansas City a half-game behind and Sioux Falls one-and-a-half games back.
