A discussion at Tuesday’s Yankton County Commission meeting regarding granting extensions to conditional use permits turned heated and resulted in one citizen, John Gunderson of Irene being ejected from the meeting by Chairman Dan Klimisch.
After Gunderson had his request to address the board on the issue denied he continued to speak and Klimisch halted the meeting, asking Auditor Patty Hojem (hoyem) to contact the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office for assistance.
Klimisch says as chairman he has a duty to maintain control of the commission’s meetings.
Klimisch says while he is open to communicating with citizens, meetings are not the place for arguing.
Regarding the issue of granting extensions to conditional use permits, Klimisch says a recommendation on that will be forthcoming from the Yankton County Planning Commission.
