KYNT Local Sports for 5-23-19

Hartington Cedar Catholic placed tenth Wednesday in the Nebraska Class C Boys Golf State Meet in Kearney.  Trojans sophomore Riley Kuehn finished runner-up in the state tournament with a 76.  Creighton tied for third place in the Class D Boys Golf State Meet in North Platte.

The Yankton Gazelles go after honors in the ESD Conference Girls Golf Meet today.  The Conference tournament begins at 10:00 this morning in Huron.

The Class B high school all-state baseball team includes three members from defending state champion Bon Homme-Scotland, including Beau Rothschadl, Christian Uecker and Joey Slama.

The NAIA Outdoor National Track & Field meet begins today in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  In today’s qualifying for Mount Marty, the Lancers will compete in the 400-meter relay and sophomore Paul Paul will attempt to reach the finals in the 200-meter dash.

The NCAA West Preliminary Track & Field Meet runs today through Saturday in Sacramento, California.  USD will have 19 athletes competing in the Meet and South Dakota State has 11 athletes participating in the Region.  The top 12 in each event qualify for the NCAA National Outdoor Meet June 5th through the 8th in Austin, Texas.

South Dakota State will open up the Summit League Baseball Tournament with an afternoon game at Oral Roberts in Tulsa.  The Jacks ended up with a 27 and 20 season record and are the second seed in the double elimination league tourney.

Sioux Falls scored seven runs in the seventh inning last night to win at Texas 10-4 as Andrew Ely belted a grand-slam homer during the big inning for the Canaries.
