Immigrants & Workforce Development

For communities and employers who are willing to roll out the welcome mat and make the needed services available, attracting immigrants to fill open positions within businesses can play a vital part in workforce development.

Lutheran Social Services Center For New Americans Director Tim Jurgens says one key to success is remaining transparent about a companies’ intentions and establishing open dialogue within a community.

Jurgens says immigrants and refugees tend to be very loyal to the businesses and people who give them an opportunity at employment.

Jurgens spoke at Tuesday’s Yankton Area Progressive Growth quarterly investors meeting.
