The Yankton County Highway Superintendent is advising that no travel is advised on Yankton County gravel roads until further notice. Currently there are multiple vehicles stuck in the middle of several gravel roads throughout the county. This is making travel and snow removal roads nearly impossible at this point. Again, all gravel roads in the county are soft from recent flood events and were in bad shape before this week’s ice and snow event. The public is advised to stay off all county roads as much as possible to avoid further damage to them and to mitigate emergency situations for drivers. Don’t put yourself at risk if at all possible.
In order to keep you safe and as informed as possible, we are posting a link to the latest interactive road damage and road closure map here.http://ims.districtiii.org/closedroads/ plus, the link is also available on our Emergency Management website www.co.yankton.sd.us/custom/emergency-management .
