Emergency Response Times

With flood damaged roads hindering travel throughout Yankton County emergency responders are taking steps to provide people with the help they need in emergencies.

Emergency Management Director Paul Scherschligt says arrangements have been made with other agencies to help provide vehicles that are able to travel on roads throughout the county.

Scherschligt says citizens have a responsibility to not make the situation worse by traveling on county roads or starting controlled burns that may require a response from a fire department.

Schaerschligt says people need to remember that response times by emergency personnel may be slower due to weather and road conditions.
