Yankton County Flood Aftermath

The aftermath of last week’s flooding in Yankton County has local officials urging residents to document any property damage they experienced and to put safety first when traveling.

Chairman Dan Klimisch says meetings are planned for this Friday with both small communities and townships to explain what needs to be documented for possible reimbursement by FEMA.

Klimisch says with many roads still underwater or otherwise damaged from the flooding, motorists need to be cautious when traveling on them.

Klimisch says an agreement with the city of Yankton will allow rural residents to take trash and flood damaged items to the city’s transfer station free of charge.
