Gavins Point Dam Releases

Current plans are to begin reducing releases from Gavins Point Dam which had been drastically increased earlier this week in response to the large amount of uncontrolled runoff entering Lewis and Clark Lake.

Missouri River Basin Water Management Division Chief John Remus says increasing releases from Gavins Point up to one hundred thousand cubic feet per second provided the storage capacity needed to accommodate run-off into the reservoir.

Remus says Gavins Point releases will be reduced to eighty-three thousand c-f-s Friday evening with more reductions expected over the next several days.

Remus says that releases from Fort Randall which had been reduced to zero in response to the run-off will be slowly increased over the next few days.
