An aging portion of the Yankton County Jail is in need of some expensive repairs.
Sheriff Jim Vlahakis says the plumbing system in the jail has failed which means a complete renovation project for that part of the facility is needed.
That portion of the jail houses up to thirty mostly federal female prisoners which bring in about three-fourths of a million dollars annually in revenue.
The estimate for repairs is just under four hundred thousand dollars and Vlahakis says more than enough jail revenue has been put aside to cover the cost.
Vlahakis says that portion of the Yankton County Jail was built about forty-five years ago.
