KYNT Local Sports for 2-8-19

The South Dakota high school gymnastics state meet is today and tomorrow at the Swiftel Center in Brookings.  The team competition is today with the Yankton Gazelles among nine teams competing for Class Double-A honors, and Vermillion and Wagner-Bon Homme are included in the nine teams in the Class A meet.  The individual state competition for gymnastics is tomorrow in Brookings.

The Yankton Bucks look to stay unbeaten in the ESD Conference with a key game at Watertown this evening.  The Bucks are 7-0 in conference games and 12 and 3 overall this season, while the Arrows have a 6 and 9 season record.  Our broadcast of Bucks basketball starts at 6:45 tonight on AM 1450, KYNT.

The Yankton Gazelles hope to get back on the winning track tonight with a game against Watertown at 7:00 at the Summit Activities Center.  Yankton is 6 and 8 overall, while the Arrows are just 1 and 13 this season.

The University of South Dakota men’s basketball team lost a 107-102 decision in overtime last night to Omaha at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls.  The Coyotes rallied from 18 points behind in the second half to take the lead but Omaha nailed a three-pointer to send the game to overtime.  Stanley Umude and Triston Simpson each scored 24 points for U-S-D, which is now 9 and 14 overall and 3 and 7 in Summit League play.

The Mount Marty College basketball teams have their final road doubleheader this season on Saturday.  The Lancers play at Doane University tomorrow at 2:00, and the Mount Marty women are just a half-game behind a G-PAC playoff spot.
